Tempest Cutie mark story

“What's wrong?  Your wrings hurt too much?”  Rainbow Dash said, mocking Tempest for slowing down.

“No, just making sure you can catch up to me.”  Tempest said with a sneer.

He put on a boost of speed and caught up to his mom.  With her flowing rainbow mane in the wind, it was a surprise she didn't fool the other ponies a Sonic Rainboom was happening whenever she flew.

“Now's your chance, go!”  Rainbow said, fronting her wings to slow down.

Tempest flapped his wings furiously as he headed toward the ground at an ever increasing pace.  The cone began to form around his front hooves.

“I'm doing it, it's going to happen!”  Tempest thought, trying to stay focused on increasing his speed.

He was getting closer, faster and faster and faster until... he had to pull up to avoid hitting the ground at supersonic speeds.

“What happened, you almost had it?”  Rainbow asked, moving towards her son who stayed in place, looking very defeated.

“I was scared, okay?  I didn't want to become a spot in the grass.”  Tempest said, looking very dejected.

He flew on back to the starting point where his mom followed him, observing his actions.

“Take a break.  You need to blow off some steam and get your energy back up.”  Rainbow told him, flying on back to their cloud home to make some lunch.

Tempest said he would be in soon, knowing that was a lie.  He needed to go faster, now.  He tried again and again until his mom made him come in after the fifth attempt.

“You need to know when to stop Tempest.  You aren't ready for it right now.”

“But I have to do it.  I need to make a Sonic Rainboom or the Wonderbolts will never take me in.”  Tempest said, taking a quick bite of his daisy sandwich.

He hurriedly ate the rest of his lunch before dashing to the door to go back outside.

“Where are you going mister?”  Rainbow said, cross at how he had been acting lately.

“You know what I'm going to do, to make a Sonic Rainboom.”  Tempest said, snapping back at her.

“You need to drop this Tempest.  You're going to get hurt if you keep trying at this rate.”  Rainbow said, worrying about his health.

“I need to do this mom.  I won't get anywhere if I don't try.”  Tempest said as he dashed out the door.

After an hour of trying over and over again, Tempest went back to the starting point for the twentieth time.  He tried to gain speed again, but couldn't.  He'd pulled a muscle in his wing.  He headed back home, but stopped before he opened the door.  His mom was bound to leave him to his own as he had been very mad at her for trying to help her.

“Is Fluttershy home?  I need some help from her.”  Tempest asked Flora, trying to hide his pain.

Flora shook her head.  “Sorry, she's out helping the bunnies and squirrels make nice.”

“Oh, okay.  Thanks for telling me though.”  Tempest said as he walked away.

He walked to the library, Zecoras, even Sweet Apple Acres to find someone to help him, but nobody could since everypony that had some medical experience was out doing something important.  Eventually, he gave up and returned home to find his mother sleeping on the couch.

“Great, as soon as I return, she's asleep.”  Tempest whispered to himself.

He decided to do his best from what he had seen from his mom when she pulled a muscle.  He went to get ice and a bandage and wrapped it around his wing.  He layed down on his bed and took a quick nap.  In his dream, everything was moving fast beyond belief.  He saw Pinkie and Apple jack walking, but an extremely fast pace to get to wherever they needed to go.  He looked to his left and saw almost everypony looking like they were walking, but moving at a running pace.  He then turned and saw his mom moving at a normal walking pace.

Tempest snapped his eyes open.  “That's it!”

He waited until the next time until his mother would train with him and until his wing was a bit better.

“It's been too soon.  You sure you can do this?”  Rainbow said, unsure of what could happen.

“Trust me mom.  Ever since you told me what I need to do since last time, I've been getting ready as best as I can.”  Tempest, huge smile on his face.

He prepared his wings, and took off.  He moved at a leisurely pace, doing all the preparations before he got to the big drop.  Here, he took a moment to breathe deeply, and dropped.  He turned and began to fall with gravity.  The cone started to form.

“Good, he's got it nailed now.  He's grown up so fast”  Rainbow said, smiling to herself as she watched her son understand the basics of making a Sonic Rainboom.

The cone became narrower until it was a very sharp and acute angel.  He closed his eyes and took another deep breathe.  He flapped to the pace of this breathing and suddenly felt everything move slower.  He looked back at his mom and saw her give an approving nod before he turned back around and snapped up straight to the sky.  He saw the rainbow expand for miles on end.  He turned back around and put a huge smile on his face as he had finally broken the barrier that was in his way.

“So, how was it this time?”  Rainbow asked Tempest.

“Calm.  Peaceful.  Everything seemed to slow down as I broke the barrier and made it happen.”  Tempest said holding back screams of joy.

“So, what was it you learned about going fast?”  Rainbow asked, looking high and mighty with her infinite knowledge.

“Sometimes, you just need to slow down to go faster.  You need to take things at the pace they are set at, you can't make them change.”  Tempest said, sounding smarter by the second.

“Good, because you know what?”  Rainbow asked her son.

“What, I'm now considered better than you?”  Tempest asked playfully.

“No, you've now discovered your true self with that lesson right there.  Look at your flank.”

Tempest turned around and saw his mark.  He felt everything going off at once, like the fireworks at Canterlot during the Gala.  He felt the ringing in his ears.

“Berry?  Cherry?  Anypony?”  Tempest could hear through the ringing.

He didn't know what happened, juts that he remembered the day when he found out what to do in every situation.  To take everything at a slower speed than what he wanted to.

“Ugh, not so loud.  My ears feel like they're going to explode.”  Tempest said, gritting his teeth at how he had gotten stuck in this situation

He knew when he looked at Andromeda and saw nopony else that he was going to need to wait for his friends before he ran off to explore.
So this is Tempest, the last new story of the foals of the Mane Six. He was my favorite as he is a lot like me, just doing everything as fast as possible. He was also the one to have the biggest change in attitude.
